HEROES

IT HAS BEEN ONE MONTH SINCE THE TRAGEDY: PRAY FOR JAPAN!

A Japanese poet Kenji Miyazawa wrote:

not losing to the rain
not losing to the wind
not losing to the snow
or to the heat of the summer
with a strong body
unfettered by desire
never losing temper/.../
when there's drought
shedding tears of sympathy
when the summer's cold
walk in concern and empathy
called a blockhead by everyone
without being praised
without being blamed
such a person I want to become.

Today found on the CNN homepage an article by Paula Hancocks about Susumu Sugawara who steered his boat directly into tsunami and was saved, a supermarket owner Tadaomi Sasahara who gave all his food away for free after the disaster, and a small community on an island of Oshima in the North-East of Japan.

You can read the article by clicking on the link below:

Dear Carina

So you left! I had expected you to be still in Chiloe. Wonderful to read about your time there, and about the family I met, and your signpainting. Excellent tone in your writing, unpretentious... And then you managed to get all the way down South! And now you wonder whether to cross an Ocean, or will have to... I can only hope you'll pass through Holland one day, and ring the bell... I travelled haphazardly in the Alps, without my usual determination to reach this place, or see that... Maybe I was inspired by your example.
love
Michael
