PUERTO TORO- THE SOUTHERN MOST POPULATION IN THE WORLD

To my Mother

Photo credit: Maurice Van de Maele

Today I was in a little village, that has less than ten adults living there.
One single family of civilians, two marines, a couple of police officers, one teacher for six kids of different ages.

Jose built a bridge and called it "Sonia".
Maurice said that Jose had named it after his mother.
"And what is the name of the river",  I asked.
My guide didn`t  know.
I assumed it could have also been "Sonia", because all the bridges here were named after the rivers.
Then Maurice smiled and said that the bay was called "Sonia" too.

She must have been one very special woman.

She is every-woman and every-mother:
the river that falls into the sea and the bridge over the water.
Happy Mother`s Day!
