| Robalo Bay, Navarino Island, looking over the Beagle Channel to Tierra del Fuego |
Christian from France wanted to hike the Dientes of Navarino.
I helped him make the note to look for a travel companion. He invited me to dinner.
"You have to drink wine," he said.
I took a glass of water, but ordered a chicken in a red wine sauce as a compromise.
"You have to swim in the Beagle Channel, before you leave the island," I said.
"So when are you going?"
"Tomorrow at six a.m."
Today six in the morning he was at my door. I was surprised, but did not say anything.
We jogged until the Robalo Bay, took a quick swim, and then ran back through the forest - altogether 1h 30 minutes. When you travel, you are more alive, more awake, more concious of the value of time, I remembered. I would have done the same.
The shower, usually cool, seemed hot this morning.
My apartment is next to the veterenarian´s office. Silvia came to work at 8.
"I fixed the heater," she told me.
So it was not the effect of the Beagle Channel after all ...
