AGAIN PUERTO TORO AND THE COUNTDOWN TO THE SEVEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY BEGINS

How come one becomes drawn to certain places and not others? To such extent that even without planning, somehow ends up there? Maybe it is because s/he resembles those?

There is no road that leads to Toro, only once a month a ferry takes supplies to its people. Its hiking trails are beautiful, but known only to very few. Most people who live there are alone - they have left their families to do their jobs and be: one hundred fishermen, seven police officers and one school teacher. They all are like Puerto Toro - distant, quiet, closed, filled with stories and dreams:

As life keeps flowing peacefully through and alongside world´s southern-most channels, I am full of impressions. A couple of hours ago I returned from another journey to PuertoToro. This time it was with a sailboat Saoirse voyaging under the flag of New Zeland. I did not take one photograph, but see so vividly all the lights and images from that trip.

No, I have not gotten used to the beauty, it has not become a part of everyday surroundings which I wouldn´t notice, quite on the contrary. I love the island where I live. I hope it will show me more of it, it´s secret and hidden places, it´s high peaks and low valleys.

I feel inspired and humbled by my seventh year journey anniversary which is coming this monday. I took a day off from work, to be able to do something I have never done before. What will it be, I still wonder and who will be my travel companion? Let me give that day the freedom of becoming anything. Give me courage to follow.
