To Keri, Graig and Sarah who are off sailing to South Georgia.
This is what we discovered looking at the nautical charts
the night before their departure.
This is Staten Island - our possible stop - said Keri pointing at
a tiny piece of land near the Eastern corner of the Land of Fire. I looked at the curious shape:
Then turned the map around and saw:
- a Tired Dragon. But why would it be tired?, I asked
and suddenly saw the reason:
Look at that fire!
The truth behind the origin of the Land of Fire (Tierra del Fuego)
was all that time under our very nose! Patagonia will never look the same to whoever knows that the Little Dragon of the Staten Island is behind that massive flame, engraved on every map.
It was even known to Plato - man sees the effects, but not the causes.
