Dear Mrs. Pamela T.
Mayor of Cape Horn Municipality
I send you my regards hoping you are enjoying your vacation and write to inform you about my resignation as a Head of Tourism from the 1st of May 2015. Today, on March 24th, I have presented the Letter of my Resignation to the Chief of the Community Development Department and the Deputy Mayor.
Personal and professional affection I feel for you makes me write this e-mail, expecting your pardon for disturbing you in time of rest from labor.
The future is always unknown, despite of the plans which one makes, it is the past that cannot be changed and to which I can now smile and be grateful to.
I would like to thank you for the opportunity and the confidence you provided to a foreign stranger who came to your Commune, and in March 2013 proposed to open the Tourist Information Office. Also for your generosity in providing all what was needed to live well here – a bicycle, a house, good salary and much more.
I still remember our interview, your job offer, my wish to accompany you as a Mayor. I left behind the nomadic life for a long time, but today I am about to take it up again in desire to be a life companion to a Man who sails around the world. By doing so, I realize I fail you, nonetheless I hope for your blessing and understanding.
I did my job as well as I could, always with love, conscious that it could have been done better. The person to follow would surely show. And it will not be as hard, having the office implemented with what it needs (maps, models for visitor statistics, the Tourist Plan, etc.) to perfect the performance of the space.
What you gave to me was not a mere opportunity to live and work in your Commune - the Municipality became a family and the bond of friendship and care I feel for you and my colleagues will accompany me for life. Thank you for everything!
I herein say good-bye, heartfully greeting you,
Carina J.
