A LESSON ON HOUSE BUILDING

Ulli, Nanne and little Lara live in the city, but their country house is close to where I live. Today they invited me for a picnic in their yard. I got to meet Daniel and Soledad, their baby Manuel, six year old Mateo and his older brother eight year old Luca. It was a warm sunny winter day inside and out...

Ulli showed me the house he had built from mud, horse manure and dry grass. Sounded funny, but looked quite real:

Grass on the roof felt a natural choice for such a creation. Needed watering. Walking on it seemed like being on a hilltop.

Ulli said he didn't really know how such houses were built, neither did any of the workers.

There was something in his experience that rang familiar to me, to my journey an even to life itself. One can never be too sure in anything - just have to imagine, believe and create, mixing the elements at hand.

I touched the wall and some dirt fell of. The weather could also do damage.
"Then you just have to pick up some mud and fix it", said Ulli.

Same with life, I thought again: no-thing is permanent nor perfect. Yet the problems can be solved when detected.

The more I looked at the house the more I liked it. It came from the earth and could easilly go back without harming the environment, serving man when needed, later simply dissolve in nature leaving no mark.

Here are the images of the ingredience: mud (regular), horse dung and grass - if someone would like to give it a try.

Hi Carnina,

it is great to have you with us.
Your approach traveling slow and going with the flow to the the furthest point, is quite different in this world of hectic rush and speed. Nice that you share your experience within this blog.
I wish you a pleasant stay and "buen viaje".

Kind regards, Ulli
